When lock-down came in March, we quickly moved our classes on-line. Every Wednesday night you found us sweating over a HIIT class (High Intensity Interval Training) and come Saturday morning a one hour all body workout.
The wonderful members of Fitbiznow stayed with me during this period and we had some new members joining us from Suffolk and Norfolk. We kept that going and built up quite a library of exercises which can be found on the Fitbiznow YouTube channel.
We worked out together for five months whatever the weather. We had a few inside because of the rain, but otherwise we were pretty lucky.
Two weeks ago and after two years in business we started up again with live classes. Online classes are all very well, but there’s nothing like the real thing. For an instructor it’s not easy to see what everyone is doing, particularly during core exercises – everyone ‘forgets’ to dip their cameras. Also as an instructor I missed the laughs and helping with technique – it felt quite lonely at times.
So we’re now back and reformed as the Stevington Striders AC. Our focus is to get fit using an all-body workout, so that we can take part in Park Runs, 5ks, 10ks, half marathons and beyond. We’re a fun group and Stevington, Beds is such a lovely place to work out.
I couldn’t be happier to be back with my group. Risk assessments are in place, alongside dedicated Covid-19 assessments. We don’t use any kit and a strict 6 foot social distancing rule is adhered too. A track and trace programme is in place and we never, ever take any risks.
All of our paperwork has been submitted to Sports England who are very happy with what we’re doing – so all good.
If you haven’t tried one of our classes before, then please do get in touch and before you know it you’ll be passing that finishing line.
